Marie Rizek Bonebrake
Marie R. Bonebrake, age 87, died Sunday September, 27, 2009, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community - Honstead House in Manhattan, Kansas.
She was born on December 3, 1921 in Munden, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Rosalie (Rost) Rizek. She attended college at Kansas State University and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1943 and a Master's Degree in Family and Child Devolpement in 1947. On November 14, 1942 she was married to Case Bonebrake in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Mrs. Bonebrake was a past National Representative for the Rocky Mountain AAUW, the President of the Faculty Women's Club at the University of Arizona and President of the Kansas State University Social Club. Marie was also a very successful sports car racer and also loved sports car rallies. Mrs. Bonebrake enjoyed genealogy and had created 6 books about her family history.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Veronica Anne Bonebrake in 2001.
Survivors include her husband Case, of the home; her son, C. Richard Bonebrake, and his wife, Carol, of Topeka, Kansas and her daughter, Cynthia, and her husband Donald Walters, of Monterey, California. Also she is survived by 8 grand-children and 2 great grand-children.
Memorial services will be at the Meadowlark Hills Community Room at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 3, 2009, with Father Joseph Popelka officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m., Saturday at the Ashrock Cemetery in Woodston, Kansas. Additional memorial services will also be held at a later date in Belleville, Kansas.
